The Kano State Government has commenced a Free Oral Health Outreach Programme aimed at providing quality oral healthcare services to residents of the state.
The exercise officially kicked off at Kwankwaso General Hospital, Madobi Local Government Area, and will run until 21st August, 2025, with the closing ceremony scheduled to hold at Filin Mushe Primary Healthcare Centre, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
Declaring the outreach open, the Kano state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, who was represented by the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Shehu Abdullahi, said the campaign is part of the present administration’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of citizens.
In a statement signed by the public relations officer of the ministry Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa explained that the programme is designed to bring free oral health services closer to the people, with more than 1,000 individuals expected to benefit.
The services offered include free drugs, tooth extractions, dental fillings, scaling and polishing, as well as mouthwash distribution to promote good oral hygiene and prevent dental diseases.
Dr. Yusuf emphasized that the initiative aligns with the state government’s broader healthcare reforms aimed at ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare services across all communities.
The State Ministry of Health reassures the public of its commitment to sustaining similar outreach programmes across the state to strengthen preventive healthcare and improve overall public health outcomes.
