The Kano Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has pledged its support for the Kano Chamber of Commerce’s upcoming International Trade Fair, aimed at showcasing the economic potential of locally made products from the state’s 44 local governments to foreign markets and investors.
During a courtesy visit to the Ministry, Commissioner Alhaji Mohammed Tajo Othman reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering collaborations with private and foreign investors to create a favourable business environment.
He acknowledged the vital role of the Kano Chamber of Commerce in advising the government on enhancing commercial activities.
He added that Governor Alhaji Kabir Yusuf, is committed to providing a conducive environment for business growth and economic development.
Mohammed Othman encouraged the Chamber to guide local governments in embracing industrialisation and modern technological innovations to unlock the economic potential and promote sustainable growth.
Ambassador Usman Darma, President of the Kano Chamber of Commerce, solicited collaboration from the 44 local governments for the trade fair, highlighting Kano’s emergence as a business hub processing 50% of intercontinental connections.
He emphasised the Chamber’s collaboration with local governments on empowering grassroots initiatives and improving economic opportunities for local businesses and communities.
Furthermore, Ambassador Darma advised the state government to proactively identify benefits from federal projects, such as the AKK Gas project and Solar plants, to address youth unemployment.
By leveraging these projects, the state can create new opportunities for its citizens and drive economic growth.
The Ministry and the Chamber aim to promote economic growth, attract investments, and improve the lives of Kano’s citizens through this collaboration.
