The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, has commended the seamless conduct of the ongoing National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) examinations in the state.

Dr. Makoda Assumes Office, Determines To Introduce More Programmes On Education

Dr Makoda made the remarks during a monitoring visit to the School for Arabic Studies (SAS) and Abdullahi Bayero College of Qur’anic Studies in Kano Municipality.

Final-year students of Arabic and Islamic schools across Nigeria sat for their Islamic Studies paper as part of the core subjects of the examination.

The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness and conduct observed during the exercise, noting that students at both schools were fully engaged in the exams without any disruption.

“We have seen how the students are busy writing their exams at SAS and Abdullahi Bayero College, and I use this opportunity to pray for their success throughout the examination period,” Dr. Makoda said.

While at Abdullahi Bayero College of Qur’anic Studies, Dr. Makoda also lauded the Class of 1993 alumni for their support in renovating two classrooms and providing essential infrastructure.

“It is impressive to note that the old students graciously renovated two classrooms, furnished them, provided two 2000-litre water tanks, and installed 16 streetlights within the school premises,” he noted.

The Commissioner called on other alumni associations across the state to emulate such gestures by contributing to the development of their alma maters, either through financial support or in-kind donations.

Reiterating the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration, Dr. Makoda affirmed the government’s continued support in raising the standard of Islamic education in the state.

Gov Yusuf commended on Education Recovery Drive Agenda in Kano

Earlier, the principals of SAS and Abdullahi Bayero College Abubakar Idris Gwammaja and Khamis Nafi’u Yusuf respectively thanked the Commissioner for the visit.

They also acknowledged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s recent settlement of NBAIS examination fees for Kano State students for both the 2024 and 2025 academic years.

The Commissioner later proceeded to Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, where he supervised an ongoing training session for headmasters, headteachers, and directors, organized by the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
