The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has received a significant boost in its fight against human trafficking, following a pledge of support from the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
During a courtesy visit from NAPTIP’s management, led by Director General Binta Adamu Bello, the First Lady commended the agency’s progress in combating human trafficking.
She emphasized the importance of enlightenment and victim support in preventing human trafficking and violence against persons.
Senator Tinubu promised to support NAPTIP in scaling up its awareness creation across the country, boosting its operations, and providing shelter for victims.
Earlier, the Director General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello, outlined the scope and prevalence of human trafficking and violence against persons in Nigeria.
She highlighted some of the agency’s landmark achievements, including increased prosecution of offenders, awareness creation, and high-level advocacy, as well as the rescue and support of victims.
The partnership between the First Lady’s office and NAPTIP is expected to strengthen the agency’s efforts to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable Nigerians.
