The European Union (EU) Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, led by Ambassador Gautier Mignot, in company of Head of Cooperation, Massimo De Luca; Team Leader, Green and Digital Economy, Inga Stefanowicz; and Programme Manager, Renewable Energy and Circular Economy, Godfrey Ogbemudia visited Kaduna and Kano States.
The visit is part of the EU Mission to review the impact of past intervention projects, evaluate current projects, and form strategic partnerships for new projects in the states and the Northwest region in priority areas like agriculture, energy, and digital sectors.
During the visit, the EU Delegation met with critical stakeholders in the sectors, including top government officials, private sector players, industry experts, implementing partners and others to discuss partnerships and potential projects.
The Delegation also visited public and private institutions and organizations like government houses, manufacturing companies, secondary and tertiary institutions, hydropower dams, and primary healthcare.
Addressing newsmen, the commissioner for commerce and industry Hon Shehu Wada sagagi stated that it is a well come development as it will pave way for the populace in the state embrace renewable energy at all costs.
He assured of the support of the state government to tap into the opportunity in liberating micro small medium enterprises into use of renewable energy in the state.
The commissioner said that the costs of spending in electricity will be reduced to 60 to 65 percent with the use of renewable energy.
As it will give rise to industrialization as well boost commercialization in the state.
Wada sagagi stated that the renewable energy solutions will improve productivity and will provide accessible electricity for rural communities.
