Kano State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) has been applauded over the successful reclamation of 20,624 hectares of degraded land across the State
ACReSAL National Project Coordinator, Abdulhamid Umar made the commendation in a letter dated 30th August 2024 upon receiving an update of the achievement recorded under afforestation activities carried out by Kano-ACReSAL.
This was contained in a statement issued by Maryam Abdulqadir, Kano-ACReSAL Communication Officer, on Wednesday.
Eagleeyes report that -ACReSAL is a six-year World Bank-assisted Project with the federal government and 19 northern states including the FCT aimed at addressing the challenges of land degradation and climate change on a multi-dimensional scale.
Kano ACReSAL team led by the state Project Coordinator, Dr. Dahir Muhammad Hashim at a virtual meeting held with the National Project Coordinator, other states Project Coordinators and some staff from the Federal Project Management Unit .
According to the statement the ACReSAL National Project Coordinator similarly, in a virtual meeting with project coordinators of sister States and some staff from the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) rejoiced over the unprecedented milestone achievements of the Kano state team.
He appealed to others to emulate the efforts of the Kano PC in achieving the goals of the project.
‘’Words of encouragement were showered upon the Kano Project Coordinator, Dr. Dahir Muhammad Hashim and his team,’’ the statement said.
The statement added that among those at the virtual meeting are the chairman of the PCs Dr. Ibrahim Kabir of Bauchi-ACReSAL and Mrs Oghale Ruth Erezih the Drought & Desertification Specialist of the FPMU.
