The Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR) has commended religious leaders in Sumaila LGA for their consistent support in promoting public health, especially in advancing immunization and other life-saving interventions.
This appreciation was expressed during a meeting held on Saturday, 4th October 2025, at the District Head’s Palace in Sumaila Local Government Area.
The Executive Administrator of CHR, Nafisa Shehu Ibrahim, said that the meeting which was conducted by the LGA Health Educator with several religious leaders drawn across all the wards of the LGA were engaged in the discussion.
The E.A explained that as part of its pre-campaign activities under this CSO-led polio demand generation project in Sumaila LGA, CHR disclose that religious leaders alongside other community engagements activities were aimed at fostering awareness, building trust and encouraging active participation in the campaign.
This intervention is being implemented in collaboration with Afrihealth for Social Development and Impact (ASDI), with a shared goal of ensuring that every child in Kano State has access to life-saving vaccines and essential health services.
CHR then appeal to the religious leaders across Kano State to continue using their influence to encourage communities, especially women and children, as to fully participate in the ongoing Integrated Health Campaign.
By speaking to followers and reinforcing the benefits of vaccination, leaders can help ensure higher coverage, build trust in health interventions, and motivate families to take timely action.
The campaign not only aims to protect people from preventable diseases and strengthen overall community health but also seeks to foster a culture of preventive care and shared responsibility for the well-being of every community member.
Nafisa shehu added that the Integrated Health Campaign, coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), was flagged off yesterday, 6th October 2025, at the State House, Abuja, and simultaneously in Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.
Consequently Day One of the campaign exercise has kick starter today 7th October 2025, marking the start of a vital state-wide effort to boost immunization coverage and expand access to essential health services.
These campaign brings together several important health interventions, including vaccinations against Measles, Rubella, Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Polio, and other Routine Immunization antigens, as well as treatment for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
She gave assurance that the vaccines are safe, effective and free ensuring that every eligible person, especially women and children is protected against preventable illnesses.
By combining these services, the campaign seeks to strengthen the health system and close existing immunity gaps.
she emphasized that the campaign reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting government efforts toward achieving universal immunization coverage and reducing zero-dose cases in Kano State and beyond.
CHR is an organization firmly dedicated to improving Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH), emphasizes that its involvement in the Integrated Health Campaign aligns with its broader mission of ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all, particularly women and children.
