Buba Foundation, in collaboration with Widows Mite Reach Out Foundation, has successfully organized a sensitization awareness campaign on mental health and depression.
The event, held at Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Girls Science and technical college Ja’oji and Kano Capital Girls Secondary Schools as well as Governor’s Girls College, aim to educate students, about the importance of mental health, depression awareness, and the need to seek help.
The statement said the campaign featured discussions on mental health and it’s challenges, teach students to recognize symptoms of mental health issues, equip students with copying mechanisms to manage stress, among others.
Speaking a mental health professional and expert Dr. Fauzziya Buba Idris said at the end of the campaign the participants will learn about common mental health issues, their symptoms, and ways to seek help.
Adding that the event also provided a platform for open discussions, allowing attendees to share their experiences and concerns.
The initiative is part of Buba Foundation’s and Widows Mite Reach Out Foundation’s efforts to promote mental health awareness and depression, reduce stigma, and encourage help-seeking behavior.
By targeting young people, the foundations aim to equip the next generation with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to maintain good mental health.
In their Separates remarks, the Founder and Project Manager of WIMROF Foundation Stephenie Okpere and Bukola Mary Sangodele expressed their commitment to continuing this vital work, emphasizing on the importance of collaboration and community engagement in promoting mental health and wellness.
Some of the Participants who are students from Kano Capital Girls Secondary School and Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Girls Science and technical college Ja’oji and Governor’s Girls College, Nafisa Mustapha Abubakar of SSS 3A and Hafsat Usman express their appreciations for the awareness campaign described it as timely.
Adding that, they have learned a lot during the sensitization awareness campaign organised by Buba Foundation and WIMROF Foundation on mental health and depression to Girls SecondarySchools students in the state.
At the end of the Program , the Foundation’s donated First Aid Kit to management of Kano Capital Girls Secondary School.
