The newly appointed Commissioner for the Ministry of Higher Education, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, officially takeover the affairs of the ministry today, Monday.
In a Press statement issued by the public relations officer Sanusi kofar/ Naisa.
He said that Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam, who is also the Kano State Deputy Governor, commended the remarkable achievements recorded by the ministry in a short period under his predecessor’s leadership.
He emphasized that the current administration, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, is committed to building on the solid foundation laid by the previous administration of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in advancing higher education development.
He cited the Kwankwasiyya scholarship program as an example, highlighting that Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, a beneficiary, now serves as a member of Governor Yusuf’s executive council.
The Deputy Governor stated that the government is focused not just on providing education but ensuring “qualitative education” to produce a vibrant and sound younger generation capable of transforming the state.
He praised the recent achievements of Kano State indigenes studying abroad, noting their global competitiveness.
“Many of our scholars excel in their fields with flying colors,” he said.
“For instance, one of our students has been invited by the United States of America to complete his PhD in Robotics on a full scholarship.”
Comrade Gwarzo commended the ministry’s staff for their dedication and urged them to maintain a “unity of purpose” to move the ministry forward.
Presenting the handover note, the outgoing Commissioner, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, outlined key achievements recorded during his tenure, crediting the support and contributions of the ministry’s staff. Dr. Kofarmata, who described the Deputy Governor as an “elder brother,” urged the staff to extend the same cooperation to his successor.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Yusuf for giving him another opportunity to contribute his quota to the state’s development.
In a welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Hadi Bala Yahaya, MNI, welcomed the new Commissioner, Dr. Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, to the esteemed Ministry and assured staff cooperation.
It will be recalled that over the weekend, His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, reshuffled his cabinet, reassigning Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar/mata to the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation as Honourable Commissioner.
