Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has emphasized the importance of volunteerism among youth as a means of acquiring additional skills and experience beyond formal education.

The Commissioner made this statement while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kano State branch, in his office.

Comrade Waiya noted that the Kano State Government will introduce initiatives to encourage youth participation in volunteer programs across various organizations.

He explained that such engagements would enhance their skills, improve their future employment prospects, and contribute to societal development.

The Commissioner also commended the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its immense contributions, particularly during disaster response efforts.

Waiya further revealed his long-standing collaboration with the Red Cross Society, Dala Division, and pledged continued support to enhance humanitarian services for the benefit of the people in Dala and the entire state.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kano State branch, Alhaji Salisu Idris Sallama, stated that their visit was to congratulate the Commissioner on his recent appointment.

He acknowledged the Commissioner’s consistent support for the Dala Division and, in appreciation, announced his appointment as the Divisional Coordinator of the Dala Local Government Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society.

Sallama further disclosed that arrangements have been finalized to honor Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, during World Red Cross Day, in recognition of his support for the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Kano State.

As a gesture of appreciation, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kano State branch, presented a gift to the Commissioner on behalf of its members.
