In an effort to keep with present administration’s commitment in prioritizing education, Kano State Ministry of Education has unveiled plan to conduct Education Sector Steering Committee Bi-Annual Conference.

In a press statement issued by the Director public Enlightenment Balarabe Abdullahi kiru.

It could be recalled that early in 2024, Kano State Government inaugurated education sector joint steering committee for donors and development partners to harmonize support given to the state education sector.

On the 26th August, 2024, the committee had conducted a meeting at Kaduna to review progress reports from Technical Working Groups (TWG) regarding the implementation of basic education initiatives in Kano State.

Addressing participants at a planning meeting on the forth coming sector steering committee Bi-Annual Conference the State Commissioner of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda explained that during the conference, issues regarding educational Development would be discussed.

He added that the conference would also provide opportunity to strategize support of donor partners for the year 2025, and work together as a team to achieve quality education in the state.

Dr. Makoda maintained that since the declaration of State of Emergency on Education, the present administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf is fully committed in taking new measures aimed at addressing challenges facing the state education sector.

According to him, the conference is expected to discuss on how best the government and other development partners could work together and ensure good implementation of education policies in the state.

“It is going to be a well organized stakeholders meeting where we are going to deliberate on so many important issues regarding the progress of education in our dear state ” he stated.

He further urged the participants of the meeting to use their experience and come out with plans for the successful conduct of the Bi-Annual Conference.

Presenting the report of the last education sector joint steering committee meeting held at Kaduna, Director Planning, Research and Statistics Yusha’u Hamza Kafin Ciri disclosed that during the meeting, participants discussed progress regarding implementation of the 14-points education reform agenda and deliberated on the recommendations from the Kano Education Recovery Conference and Action plan.

He further highlighted some of the observations made during the meeting, stressing that possible suggestions were also offered by the committee to address some of the problems of education in the state.
