The Vice Chancellor of Federal University Dutsinma in Katsina State, Professor Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, said the university management is committed to repositioning the institution for academic excellence.
He made this known during a three-day retreat for members of the management and staff of the university, held in Dutse, Jigawa State.
Speaking on the sidelines of the retreat, Professor Bichi explained that the event provided an opportunity to review the university’s activities over the past year.
“We came to Dutse to have a retreat, and after the retreat we will have a council meeting.
“The aim of the retreat is for us to refresh our minds on our activities throughout the year, review successes and the challenges that were encountered and to plan for next year.
He further explained that, they will brainstorm and design a program of action on how best to make the institution more developed both in the area of infrastructure and academics.
“We invited six different experts to deliver papers on key areas that will translate to development for the university.
“Some of the papers presented were on the equality of education and the challenges faced by university education and we have assimilated them very well.
“Tomorrow, another set of papers will be presented on education policy and we will see how we will adopt these research, to translate it into improved quality of education for our students”, Professor Bichi said.
Radio Nigeria reports that, papers presented at the retreat include ‘Path to impactful University Leadership’ by Prof. Nasir Tukur and another paper titled ‘Symbiotic Relationship Between the Council, other Organs and Management in Achieving University Vision and Mission’ among others.
