A former Basketball player Faisal Abdulmalik has flagged off the distribution of sporting kits to over 60 Basketball players from 7 to 15 years of B3 Basketball Academy.

Faisal, who launched the distribution of the first set of sports kits to over 30 young basketball players, reiterated his commitment to promoting sports from grassroots.

Items distributed include canvas and jerseys to each player.

He said the essence was to use the instrument of sports to empower young athletes across the state, so as to put their minds away from social vices such as violent, crime and drug abuse, among others.

The former player of High school Basketball Team from Atlanta Georgia, urged governments, private organizations, and individuals to join hands towards promoting basketball from the grassroots.

He highlights some of the challenges they are facing which hinders their optimum performance as athletes, especially in basketball.

Some of the challenges include lack of enough outdoor basketball pitches in the state.

The three days grassroots talent hunt and BIG men’s camp program and distribution of the sports kits took place at the Multipurpose Indoor Hall at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
