Abua Canice, the national number four and the last year’s female champion, Khadija Mohammed, won the male and female singles of the 37th edition of this year’s Dala Hard Court Tennis, the only surviving tennis in the nation.

Canice, who finished in the second position last year, clinched victory against national number two Oparaojo Uche, while on the female side, Khadija Mohammed continued her dominant year, winning over Udofa Mary, the national number twelve.

Khadija has now won Dala Hard Court Tennis for two terms: 2023 and 2024.

The winner of the male singles pockets the sum of one million naira (#1,000,000) and Khadija, as the winner of the ladies singles, earns N600,000 prize money for winning her second title, who is number two on the national tennis ranking as of October 30th, 2024, with 47 points.

“The winners said we are Dala Hard Court 37th edition champions. We are very happy; it is a dream of all players in the country.

On his part, the chairman of the Dala Hard Court Tennis organizing committee, Patron Nigerian Tennis Federation Alhaji Bashari Mohammed Gumel, congratulates all the players, both male and female, for their participation especially, the winners of this year’s tournament.

Gumel expresses his gratitude towards the main sponsors and those who donated over many years for the tournament’s success.
