The Honourable Senator Barau I. Jibrin, representing Kano North Senatorial District, has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to sports development by donating three buses to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State Chapter; Kano Referees football council; and the Nationwide League One (NLO) Kano Forum.
The gesture is aimed at providing transportation support to enhance sports activities, promote youth engagement, and encourage grassroots sports development across the state.
The announcement was made at the Senate Chamber of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during a courtesy visit by representatives of the associations from Kano.

The three buses are expected to be officially handed over by the Senator’s Special Adviser on Youth and Sports Development, Comrade Kabiru Ado Lakwaya, a former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, who will present the keys to the beneficiaries this coming Saturday.
In his reaction, the Chairman of SWAN Kano Chapter, Zahradeen Saleh Yakubu, lauded the Senator’s gesture, describing it as a landmark contribution that will significantly enhance the association’s capacity to cover sporting activities across the 44 local government areas of the state and promote grassroots sports.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Nationwide League One Forum, Alhaji Aminu Baba, commended Senator Barau for his continued support for sports development in Kano State.
He also urged members of the forum to remain committed to nurturing young talents and encouraging youths to embrace sports as a viable opportunity.

On his part, the Chairman of the Kano State Football Referees Council, Alhaji Auwalu Ali, appreciated the Deputy Senate President’s efforts in prioritizing youth development and promised that the bus would be effectively utilized to improve officiating standards in the state.
